Acton Capital Richard has an industry background in medical devices and healthcare and has been investing in start-up and early stage companies since 2006. He was Investment Manager with a UK-based VC, NorthStar Ventures, from 2006 to 2009 and from 2006 to 2016 he was Investment Manager for the AIB Seed Capital Fund (Ireland). Richard has invested across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on medtech, healthcare and life sciences.
He has advised a significant number of start-up and early stage companies from seed stage through to exit and has participated at board level with over 15 companies.
Richard has a Research M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, a 1st class honours degree in Electronic Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, and a 1st class MBA from Durham University. He has a particular interest in nutrition, nutraceuticals, functional medicine and the microbiome and has read widely in these areas for the past three decades.
